Volunteers

The Medical Committee of the Los Angeles-St. Petersburg Sister City Committee (LASPSCC) is an active and diverse group; it is a Subcommittee of the LASPSCC. The composition of the committee includes physicians and non-physicians as well as Russian and non-Russians

The goals of the Committee are:

  1. To foster physician to physician exchange of information
  2. To maintain and update the web site.
  3. To assist Russian physicians to travel to the West and to study at selected sites
  4. To maintain and expand electronic linkages for rapid interchange of information
  5. To raise funds
  6. To encourage donations of equipment, medications, journals etc.
  7. To select and to translate important overviews, protocols
  8. To bring resources to everyone’s attention, - e.g. new guidelines, special meetings etc.

The Los Angeles Committee meets 3 to 4 times/year. In between meetings, the above activities are ongoing.
The Committee needs volunteers for a number of tasks:

  1. Selection of materials for web site
  2. Translation in to Russian
  3. Publicity
  4. Fund raising
  5. Hospitality
  6. Strategic planning
  7. Partnering with Russian colleagues in St. Petersburg - coordinated by Dr. Alexander Ariev ( PhD) , Chief of Geriatrics, Medical Academy for Postgraduate Studies.
